How your age is calculated
Your age is the time elapsed from your date of birth to today, expressed as full years, then the remaining months, then days — the way people naturally state age. The calculation runs entirely in your browser using today's date in your local timezone, so nothing about your birth date is sent anywhere.
What the calculator shows
- Exact age in years, months, and days.
- Total days old — your whole age counted in days.
- The weekday you were born on — Monday, Tuesday, and so on.
A note on leap-year birthdays
If you were born on February 29, your exact birthday only appears on the calendar in leap years. In common years your age still increases normally; the day count simply rolls over at the end of February. tilwhen counts whole calendar days, so your total-days figure stays accurate every year. For more on why the calendar behaves this way, see how many weeks are in a year.
How counting works
Age counting is exclusive of the birth day for the elapsed total and computed midnight-to-midnight in your local timezone — the same principles behind every tilwhen tool. Read more in inclusive vs exclusive day counting and date math across time zones.
